Another Miracle In Salvation

No one but God could cause physically or spiritually dead people to hear, pay attention to and understand the voice of the Son of God.

The word hear in these three passages are the same word.

John 5:25: Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Revelation 3:20: Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

1 Thessalonians 4:16: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Everything about salvation is a miracle. But one miracle has until now escaped my attention. The miracle is that dead people hear the voice of the Son of God. According to Strong*s Concordance, the word hear in the passages means more than just physical hearing. It means they will hear in various senses, they will give audience to (willingly pay attention to) and they will understand the voice of the Son of God.

The hour is coming, and now is. Spiritually dead individuals heard the voice of Jesus when He was here on earth and were saved. Physically dead believers will again hear His voice and rise to Heaven in resurrected bodies at the Rapture. During our time spiritually dead individuals hear the voice of Christ through the Holy Spirit. When they hear in the true sense of that word, they become born again. They that hear shall live.

The Holy Spirit sees to it that we who are saved hear Jesus voice through the Bible, other believers, the circumstances of our lives and our conscience, making it possible for us to follow Him. For Christians to hear Him is a continual miracle. We need to be very careful that we do not listen to our flesh and follow that.

The radio preacher I heard the day I received Jesus spoke to my ears and my mind. Someone else was speaking to my whole being. It was the voice of the Son of God speaking to me through the Holy Spirit. He was speaking to me in various senses. He made me willing to hear. He caused me to understand.

When we share the gospel we can only speak to the ears and mind of those we share with. If anyone is to speak to their hearts, it can only be the voice of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. We need to depend upon that miracle whenever we witness. Knowing that God works that miracle should make us willing to witness more and more often. It seems to me that Christians who do not witness do not understand that miracle or depend upon it. They have forgotten how Jesus spoke to them. Perhaps they don*t understand that it was a miracle. Anyone reading this article won*t have that excuse any more.
